I’m making my first attempts at poetry. And publicly–”out loud”–to boot. Quite unlike me.
I’d heard of NaNoWriMo but not NaPoWriMo (say that three times fast
).
Below are the poems I’ve posted on Robert Lee Brewer’s Poetic Asides Blog in response to his April 2012 Poem-A-Day (PAD) Challenge, which he graciously opened to any and all who choose to participate.
My schedule hasn’t allowed for participating each day, but I’m posting a link to all 30 days’ posts for your enjoyment. There is some super-awesome work there! Enjoy!
Day 1
The prompt for Day 1 is to write a communication poem. Robert says the communication could be dialogue between two (or more people); a postcard correspondence; a letter; a voicemail; a text message; a series of tweets; or whatever.
My response:
“I know, right?!”
“Yep, for sure.”
“Me too.”
“Oh, okay, dear.”
“You think so?”
“Absolutely!”
“I love you too, bunches!”
We sit staring at one another,
others stunned by our pleasurable silence.
Who needs words?
###
Note: This is a sort of unspoken communication that often goes on between my husband and me. After more than 25 years together, we can interpret pretty closely the slight nods, winces, winks, and other nonverbal nuances that we share when in the company of others.
